Boredom
📣 One quote
“Every adult remembers, among many things, the great ennui of childhood, and every child’s life is punctuated by spells of boredom: that state of suspended anticipation in which things are started and nothing begins, the mood of diffuse restlessness which contains that most absurd and paradoxical wish, the wish for a desire.” ~ Adam Phillips - Psychoanalyst

Nobody wants to be bored. It's boring. It's uncomfortable. But perhaps like some other uncomfortable activities like running, being bored might actually be good for us. We mostly strain to avoid boredom at all costs. Standing in line for more than 5 seconds stimulates a reaction to pull out our phone and open Instagram. These moments of boredom that used to punctuate our daily existence have been banished by technology. Few mourn this passing, but perhaps there is something to say for being bored occasionally. Perhaps letting our mind rest without bombarding more photos, more tweets, more messages, would give us a chance to daydream.
Remember daydreaming?
